Modern Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay Wedding | Alicia + David
Alicia and David chose the stunning and newly renovated Skylark Ballroom on the top floor of the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay for their wedding. As a photographer, I love the open, bright, and airy feel of the space, accentuated by the amazing windows that offer breathtaking views, especially at sunset. One of the highlights for weddings is the seamless flow between ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception spaces—Wilson's Plover for the ceremony, Starling for cocktail hour, and the Skylark ballroom, creating a smooth and easy transition.
Their day was filled with joyful, emotional, and spontaneous moments. David's two daughters and Alicia's son were integral parts of the wedding party, showcasing the beautiful bond their families have formed over the years. The chosen color palette of light dusty blue with hints of navy and white complemented the venue's ambiance perfectly.
David and Alicia opted not to see each other before the ceremony, adding to the anticipation and excitement. Mimi, from It's Official Weddings, crafted a personal and meaningful ceremony that truly reflected the couple's love story.
Despite the windy weather, we utilized the indoor spaces for their wedding party and couple portraits, taking advantage of the natural light flooding through the massive windows in the hallway leading to the Audubon Ballroom. Alicia's mom took charge of the decor, bringing their vision to life, with subtle nods to their shared love for Disney evident in the cake topper and favors.
Their reception was a celebration filled with memorable entrances by the wedding party and timed perfectly to capture the sunset views from the terrace. One of the highlights was the couple's last dance in the empty ballroom—a magical moment before their grand exit.
