Philippe Park Engagement Session | Jen + John

Jen, John, and their sweet pup Zelda! Philippe Park is one of our favs for engagement session locations because there are just so many gorgeous options at any time of day and most importantly it is pet friendly. I love when our couples want to include their pets in their engagement session. Almost all of our couples have never done professional photos before which I know makes everyone nervous and then try adding in a pet which can also make it even more stressful. But, don’t worry we’ve got you! Here’s my top tips for including your pet in your engagement session!

1. Bring a pet wrangler with you:-) Or hire FairyTale Petcare! Your pet won’t be in all the photos, just some of them so there has to be someone there to take care of them while we’re doing some with just the 2 of you. Jen and John had one of their dads come with them and made sure Zelda was occupied while we were getting these beautiful ones of them.

2. Bring treats or whatever squeaky toy that gets their attention. Dogs are pretty much like little kids they have a short attention span and we need something to get them to look at the camera for a quick second.

3. Get a pretty leash/harness/collar etc. Most likely it will be in some photos because we’ll have you walking them and such. Jen had gotten this cute pink one for Zelda.

4. Location - there are many locations that are not pet friendly, especially a lot of the beaches in the area. That is one of the things we always like to make sure and suggest is that it is a place that allows pets so we aren’t disturbing others and we don’t want to get in trouble!
